As an Associate Broker with Keller Williams, I have been a Realtor for 13 years. For the past 10 years, my focus has been working with clients preparing to retire or with families that have aging parents who need to downsize and move to their next home. The longer sellers have owned their homes, the more opportunities they have to make improvements that can significantly impact the return on their investment when they go to sell. Ideally it is better if they could make the improvements over time and actually enjoy them before selling. However, in many cases people are very happy with their homes and the mentality has been that if it isn’t broken there is no reason to fix it.
Today’s buyers are extremely busy and are not interested in living in a mess while their house is being renovated. They do not want to deal with the stress of working with contractors that may or may not be there when they say they will be. When they finish with a very busy day they just want to come home and spend time with their families and hobbies. They are willing to pay for quality and have the property in turn key condition.
I noticed that many sellers were leaving a lot of money on the table or were in need of services to assist them with the moving or downsizing process. I created a team of service professionals to include a designer, contractor, organizer, stager, landscaper, home inspector, etc. As a result of bringing all of these services to the client we are able to create a win-win for both the seller and the buyer.
In working with 55+ clients, Lori identified that there were many needs beyond housing that should be included with the team. She founded a separate company, Planning for Senior Life that is a trusted, vetted, resource group that has business partners in the following categories: Legal, Financial, Housing, Health and Lifestyle.
